Scott Stulen was born in Willmar, Minnesota in 1974. He received his BFA in Sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and his MFA in Painting and Drawing with a minor in Art History from the University of Minnesota. Scott is a painter, installation, video and sound artist whose work explores personal and collective memory, pop culture, and the Midwest. He is the Curator of Education the Rochester Art Center and an adjunct professor at the College of Visual Art in St. Paul. He exhibits throughout the country. Recent solo exhibitions include Carrie on my wayward one at Franklin Art Works and stuff I made in my couchfort and my continuing obsession with Bridget Riley at the Rochester Art Center. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2004 Katherine E. Nash Purchase Prize and a 2005 Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant.
Currently he is lecturing monthly as part of the Rochester Art Center's Contemporary Art 101 and Professional Practice series.
